23 May Kettering Station Volunteers Need Your Vote Today
Have you been to Kettering station lately? Alongside the professional restoration of the Victorian roof canopies, local volunteers have also been making improvements to the station. As a result Kettering station has been selected as an East Midlands finalist in the ‘World Cup of Stations’ awards.
Kettering needs your vote today (Tues 23 May) for a chance to face other regional winners in the final later this week.
The volunteers who have been giving the station special attention are known as station adopters. They have been creating year-round floral displays, restoring an old station trolley as a home for flower barrels, creating a tribute to Ginge the station cat… and painting the walls of an emerging secret sunken garden on platforms two and three.
Several local community organisations’ members are involved in the work – Kettering Civic Society, Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club, Brightwayz social enterprise as well as individuals.
Kettering is the only Northamptonshire station shortlisted so wherever you are in the county please show your support for this local station and it’s volunteers. If you want to know why they deserve your support check out this short video: https://YouTu.be/5cHG9vRp4xc
