#MORETHANJUSTNETWORKING – What A Month!

Well what can we say ?

October was one of our busiest months of the year as the NNBN Awards took place at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa. Again, many congratulations to everyone who was there on the night. With over 170 entries, we ended up with an amazing fully sold out event which was kindly sponsored by Event Sponsors Wilson Browne Solicitors and our Headline Sponsors North Northamptonshire Council, Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce and Poppy Design Studio. Also, a huge thank you to Pilkington Communications for their support with all our PR and thank you to all our other sponsors who supported the event.

The coverage of the NNBN Awards was incredible as, not only did we share the success of our Winners, Runners Up and those receiving Highly Commended certificates across the East Midlands, but it also went out globally thanks to a few of our Finalists own PR channels and Yahoo News! Talk about putting Northamptonshire on the map!

Many congratulations to NNBN Members Ball Beverage Packaging for being named Business of the Year and winning The Green Award, to Square Feet Co Work for being named the Small Business of the Year, to Beauty Bar Desborough for winning the Hair & Beauty Business of the Year Award and to Beccy Hurrell Voice & Arts for winning the Health & Wellbeing Business of the Year.

NNBN MEMBERS HEAR ABOUT BUSINESS CONTINUITY THANKS TO NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

NNBN Members were treated to a “first” recently as local businesses were presented to by the Business Continuity Team from North Northamptonshire Council at our Chester House meeting.

A big thank you to Matt Hoy and Elvis Kimathi from the Emergency Planning & Community Resilience department who shared some useful information with those who attended and why we should look at business continuity with our businesses.

We look forward to working with the Emergency Planning & Community Resilience department in the future and thank both Matt and Elvis for their time and joining us for the meeting.

SHOWING OUR SUPPORT TO VULCAN WORKS

Simon attended the launch of the Barclays Digital Eagle Labs at Vulcan Works as Northamptonshire welcomed the Eagle Lab team to the County as well as attending a fantastic event, also at Vulcan Works the following day, led by Digital Northants with the second of their Vulcan Sessions series of events which looked at some of the contributing tech factors to smarter cities and a greener planet and what local businesses need to know about moving towards Net Zero with West Northants Council’s Sustainability Team.

NNBN AT THE UK MALAYALI BUSINESS SHOW!

Friday 20th saw Simon and Marie heading off to the Northampton Town Centre Hotel for the first UK Malayali Business Show where Marie was exhibiting, along with a few other NNBN members, and Simon has helping to host the event and working with organisers Mathew Stephen & Co, based in Northampton.

The event brought people from all over the UK to Northampton from the Kerala community which is a state on the West Coast of India. It was certainly a very exciting event and we were delighted that we could assist with the Business Show and welcoming the Kerala community to Northamptonshire.

NNBN LIVE ON NLIVE RADIO!

The final week of the month and Simon was live on air at NLive Radio talking with Paul Brennecke on the Undiscovered Northampton show at the recent NNBN Awards. Thank you to Station Manager Martin Steers for helping to arrange the interview as it was certainly a great opportunity to relive the event on air from 6th October at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa and enjoy visiting the NLive Radio studio.

NNBN BECOME THE LATEST SIGNATORY OF THE NORTHAMPTON SUSTAINABILITY ACCORD

We became the latest organisation to sign the Northampton Sustainability Accord to raise further awareness of work being done in the County towards Net Zero and show their commitment in working towards Net Zero.

The Northampton Sustainability Accord recognises the significance of collective action in addressing shared sustainability challenges. It aims to establish a framework for collaboration among stakeholders to achieve mutually agreed sustainability goals.

Unveiled following the University of Northampton Sustainability Summit held in May, the Accord brings together a range of stakeholders including local and national businesses, governmental organisations, and third-sector businesses in a collaborative effort to transition towards more sustainable practices.

We joined other Northamptonshire organisations such as West Northamptonshire Council, SATRA, University of Northampton, North Northamptonshire Council, Good Business Charter, Salvation Army Trading Company, Northampton General Hospital, C Butt and a number of other local organisations in signing the Accord all working towards a net zero future.

We’ve recently signed the SME Climate Hub pledge, are active members of the Organisation for Responsible Businesses and members of the Good Business Charter and our aim is to continue to share information relating to various net zero initiatives in Northamptonshire to ensure other businesses, charities and organisations are aware of such events and information.

NNBN SUPPORT THE NEW ESCAPE ROOM AT CHESTER HOUSE ESTATE

Thursday 26th October and it was a quick visit to explore the new and exciting Escape Room at The Chester House Estate to interview Jake Hill from Trapp’d for a short promotional video.

Trapp’d, who were launching their new room, Spellbound, were also entertaining Northampton Town Football Club’s players later that day so it was only right that we popped down to share this news across our social media channels and help to promote the new and exciting news that Trapp’d have opened their Escape Room at The Chester House Estate.

IT’S ALL ABOUT RADIO!

NLive Radio’s Martin Steers was the Member Spotlight at our Northampton meeting held at the Northampton Town Centre Hotel as we learned about the benefits of being involved in local radio – whether it be as a guest, advertiser or, maybe even, a presenter!

Martin kept us all entertained for his presentation as he shared why local businesses should get involved in local radio and announced the start of their Christmas present appeal which has been kindly sponsored by fellow NNBN Members Commsave Credit Union and a story we’ve covered on our website and social media.

To listen to NLive Radio, visit their website and tune in!

AND FINALLY…….

Overall, it’s been a very busy and successful month for NNBN, our members and those we engage with as we continue to drive forwards with enthusiasm in an exciting November ahead. Keep at eye on our website and social media for announcements as there is plenty going on.
