19 Jul School’s Out, And Summer’s In At Rushden Lakes
Summer has officially arrived at Rushden Lakes, and the calendar is bursting with interactive activities, brand-new events and family-friendly fun. So, if you’re on the hunt for ways to help keep little ones (and big kids) active and entertained during the school holidays, look no further. Rushden Lakes is your one-stop destination for shopping, eating and exploring throughout July and August.
Calling all Rushen Rangers! From 2nd August, the popular outdoor event for primary school ages is back with sessions that are both fun and educational. Join the friendly guide as you take an interactive walk around the beautiful Skew Bridge Lake and surrounding areas, and focus on different topics including bees, senses, stories and water. Book your slot online, and head to the meeting point near the entrance of the Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre – then let the good times begin! Don’t forget to share your snaps alongside the hashtag #RushdenRangers for the chance to be featured on Rushden Lakes’ social channels.
The exciting activities don’t stop there! The Lakes kids club is hosting workshops to entertain youngsters throughout August. Roll up, roll up to join the free Bonkers Balancing Circus Skills workshop on Tuesday 1st August to have a go at plate spinning and feather balancing, and say hello to the Circus Ringmaster on Tuesday 15th August to test your juggling skills during the free Ultimate Juggling Skills workshop. Book to experiment with slime pots alongside the Mad Scientist at the Super Slime Lab on Tuesday 8th August, and have a T-Rexcellent time at the Dino Dig workshop on Tuesday 22nd August as you dig for fossils and meet Terrence, the interactive Triceratops. Pick up your summer pass from the first event and collect a stamp at all four activities to claim a free kids club goody bag.
Donna French, Rushden Lakes Centre Manager said, “We’re delighted to be able to host so many exciting summer holiday activities to keep youngsters active and entertained throughout the summer. Whether it’s learning a new skill or discovering a hobby, there’s something for every child to enjoy.”
But it’s not just humans that can have a ball this summer. Treat your favourite furry friend to a free day out at the Everything Dog event on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August. From 9am on Saturday, and 10am on Sunday, you can browse over 60 individual stalls at the brand-new bi-monthly event. Discover the very best food offerings, treats, dog beds, services and more. When the event comes to a close at 5pm, dog-friendly walks, dining and shopping options are just some of what can be enjoyed by you and your pooch at the shopping and leisure destination.
Summer is truly jam-packed with exciting ways to enjoy the great outdoors at Rushden Lakes. Visit the Pink and Yellow Community Sheds to say hello to local, independent charities and businesses, Els Bakes, Pics on Canvas, Age UK & Royal Air Force. Pop down to The Nene Wetlands to take part in wildlife themed crafts, pond dipping and mini beasting and get out on the dazzling lake with Canoe2, and hire a katakanu, canoe or pedalo for some family bonding time!
