13 Apr Corby company supports local foodbank with £1,000 donation
A kind-hearted Corby firm keen to give back to the community has made a generous donation of £1,000 to Corby Foodbank.
The donation from Rulmeca UK, a manufacturer of conveyor rollers and components located on Brunel Road on the Earlstrees Industrial Estate, has been used by Corby Foodbank to buy essential food and toiletry items to distribute three-day emergency, non-perishable food parcels to local people in food crisis.
Speaking of why they made the donation, QHSE manager at Rulmeca UK, Mark Bell said: “As part of our social governance, we really wanted to provide help to those in need within the local community.
“As a company, it was important for us to give back where we can and, after some research, we realised that the work Corby Foodbank does is just brilliant and deserved our support.
“Some of the team and I visited the foodbank and it was quite eye opening to see how much goes into running its services. It takes courage for people to ask for help and Corby Foodbank and what Martin, the foodbank’s manager, and the team there does is just brilliant. It’s the simple things that you take for granted and I realised this when I visited.”
Although this is the first time Rulmeca UK has supported Corby Foodbank, Mark is adamant that it won’t be the last: “This year we are keen to support those on our doorstep, raising awareness and giving back where we can.
“Although money helps, we are keen to mix this up with volunteer work.
“There’s so much that goes into Corby Foodbank and how it is run. Those that already volunteer are taking time out to help out and we are keen to become a big ambassador to support the community, including Corby Foodbank.
“I have a huge appreciation – even more than before – of the work they do and I think that all businesses, where they are able, should support it.”
Of the generous donation made, Corby Foodbank’s manager Martin Langford, said: “The donation from Rulmeca UK is absolutely fantastic.
“It has been used to purchase essential food and toiletry items which have been used to make up essential food parcels to support those in the community who most need our help.
“Mark and the Rulmeca team have shown a genuine interest in the work that we do and we are beyond grateful for their support. Donations such as this provides a vital lifeline in ensuring that we can continue the work that we do here.”
Corby Foodbank is located at St. Peter and St. Andrew’s Church in Beanfield. For more information about Corby Foodbank and the work that it does, visit www.corby.foodbank.org.uk
