21 Nov Countdown to North Northamptonshire’s NNClimate23 online conference
The countdown is on to North Northamptonshire Council’s virtual climate change conference which takes place tomorrow.
NNClimate23 will be broadcast live on YouTube on Wednesday, November 22 starting at 9.30am.
The day will focus on three sessions:
- Farming and Sustainability
- Towards a New Green Economy
- Youth and Community
A full list of the speakers is now available online. People are invited to submit questions in advance to form the basis of Q&A discussions which will follow each of the sessions.
Questions can be submitted, along with the name of the relevant speaker, to nnclimate23@northnorthants.gov.uk
The day will feature speakers on a range of topics including vertical farming and sustainable food production; creating homes for the future; and educating the youth of tomorrow.
The conference will be virtual, taking place online to reduce the carbon footprint of the event. It will be broadcast live on YouTube for anyone to watch.
This is the third such forum that the council has convened, building on the success of conferences over the past two years.
Cllr Harriet Pentland, the Council’s Executive Member for Climate and the Green Environment, said:
“I’m delighted that we’ve finalised our list of speakers for this week’s event – I’m very much looking forward to hearing about all the good work going on in the area and hearing some engaging discussion.
“I’d also encourage as many people as possible to view the conference and also to submit a question if they have one. Igniting strong discussions on these topics is not only interesting but it can also lead to innovative ideas and further collaboration, which is all essential if we are to solve some really big environmental problems.”
Cllr Jason Smithers, Leader of the Council, said:
“Our climate change conference shows what is happening right on our doorstep to address the most pressing climate change and sustainability challenges confronting our communities.
“As a Council we are committed to mitigating the effects of climate change and being carbon neutral by 2030.
“Climate changes poses us with some big challenges and forums like this are important to bring people together to help find solutions.”
