31 May Positive discussions show shared commitment to secure long-term future for Kettering Leisure Village
Representatives from North Northamptonshire Council have held positive talks with a community group who are determined to see a long-term future secured for Kettering Leisure Village.
This morning, the Council and the KLV Support Group met to discuss their shared commitment to ensure the current activities at the leisure complex continue.
The Council is committed to focus on finding a solution to confirm the site continues to provide leisure and recreational facilities for the community.
Officers continue to maintain regular dialogue with Phoenix Leisure Management Limited to ensure momentum is maintained and a resolution found.
Cllr Jason Smithers, Leader of North Northamptonshire Council, said:
“This morning, the Council’s Chief Executive, Cllr Anup Pandey and I met with KLV Support Group who are passionate about the long-term future of Kettering Leisure Village.
“Kettering Leisure Village is one of the area’s premier event and leisure venues and we know how well valued it is by the local community, as indeed it is by us.
“We recognise our position as an enabler and broker to drive forward a solution and remain committed to working with all parties to find a positive outcome for the people of Kettering and the wider area.”
Jack Macdonald-Lucas from the KLV Support Group said:
“Kettering Leisure Village is a key asset for the local community and surrounding areas, and we’re absolutely determined that a resolution is found to keep services open at the site, to help support a strong economic future for the town. Without this facility Kettering would suffer enormously.
“We’re grateful that Council representatives met with us today and have shown that they are equally as determined to find a solution.”
The Council will release a further update in the week beginning June 12 as discussions progress.
