15 Aug This is what a Business Improvement District could do for Kettering
Kettering’s town centre has faced decline for many years. Under the leadership of Cllr Emily Fedorowycz, local businesses have a real opportunity to take charge of the town’s future.
Cllr Fedorowycz is spearheading the campaign to explore creating a Business Improvement District (BID) — a proven model that helps town centres unlock funding, improve trading conditions, and create vibrant, attractive places for people to visit and spend.
How a BID works:
- All businesses contribute a small amount, which unlocks significant extra funding for the town.
- Businesses themselves decide exactly how that money is spent.
- In other towns, BIDs have delivered marketing campaigns, major events to boost footfall, enhanced safety, and improved public spaces.
Many small businesses would be exempt from paying anything, or may contribute as little as £10 a year. The bulk of the funding would come from external grants, made accessible through the scheme.
This is an opportunity to:
✅ Address the problems we see every day.
✅ Act quickly and proactively.
✅ Take back our town, together.
Your voice matters. Cllr Fedorowycz is inviting all town centre businesses to a vital meeting to discuss the proposal and gather your input.
